Welcome to Farnetta, a small rural village nestled in the beautiful hills of central Italy, really close to Montecastrilli and Terni. The beauty and tranquility of this place, together with the fact that Umbria is one of the most artistic and historical italian regions (with cities like Assisi, Spoleto and Orvieto, to name but a few), makes Farnetta an absolute must-visit if you want to discover the real Umbria. Our Cesarina Roberta lives just there, in a traditional and stylish cottage, built near an enchanted wood of oak trees.

 

In this wonderfully peaceful haven, Chiara develops her passion for traditional Umbrian cuisine: following her family recipes and loyal to the Umbrian traditions, she makes bread every day using only organic whole wheat flour and prepares meals from her vegetable garden.

Description

Sometimes, Central Italy seems like a land lost in time. Natural landscapes and medieval villages, the tranquility of the countryside lifestyle, and the strong traditions that are still alive to this day. Chiara invokes this wonderful atmosphere in her summer menu, preparing some of the traditional Umbrian recipes. First of all, a rich starter, full of cold cuts and traditional cheese, pizza and some delicious bruschettas with tomatoes and basil from the garden. If this entrée seems wonderful, you should taste the main course: the ‘ iriole', a traditional pasta similar to spaghetti, that our Cesarina likes serves with some fresh tomato souce. As second course, Chiara prepares a delicious roast pork leg, with some homemade bread and some garden vegetables au gratin.

To end on a sweet note, a delicious 'crostata della nonna', made with a wild plum jam - taken directly from Chiara's orchard - lemon peel and vanilla pod.
