Le Cesarine

By the Tiber

Roma / Lazio

La Cesarina

Cesarina Cecilia works as an international journalist, but at home her passion is cooking. She’s found away of uniting her work and her hobby by inviting people from all over the world to have dinners at her house. This gives her the chance to meet people from many different company and share their stories at the table, surrounded by good food and wine.

Cecilia welcomes her guests into her beautiful home, which is right in front of Rome's Basilica di San Paolo, a stone’s throw away from the banks of the Tiber. She occupies the top two floors of a gorgeous building built in 1915. It has a beautiful terrace which looks out over the capital, so you can enjoy a taste of Rome in style - and with excellent company, of course!

The secret of the Cesarina

"I love bringing people together around the dinner table to enjoy good food and wine together. Hearing the stories and experiences of people who live far away is such a joy."

Refined selection of local wines

Immerse yourself in the culinary traditions of Rome and the Lazio region with Cesarina Cecilia. Her menu opens with a traditional appetiser, a platter of regional cheeses and hams, accompanied by a tasty ‘pizza bianca’.

The first course is one of the symbols of Roman cuisine: spaghetti alla carbonara, a dish that certainly needs no introductions. This recipe, often interpreted in complicated ways by chefs outside of Italy, simply combines guanciale pork, egg yolks, pecorino cheese and black pepper, for a taste that you will never forget! Her second course is a ‘saltimbocca alla romana’, tender fillets of veal topped with prosciutto and sage leaves, accompanied by Roman artichokes.

To round off this rich Roman menu, Chiara prepares an irresistable ricotta and wild cherry tart, a perfect end to a delicious experience.

Cesarina's Reviews

Our customers says

"This was one our best experiences in Bologna. Our hosts, Gianni and Lorenza, were a well travelled and interesting couple about similar ages to ourselves. They also spoke perfect English, having lived in Canada for many years. Gianni taught us how to make tortellini from scratch which we ate with our meal. Gianni is a fine and the rest of the meal was excellent. Their place is an apartment in a medieval Palazzo which was well worth seeing on its own. We really enjoyed it."

"Our dinner with Angela was the best experience of our visit to Rome. The food was delicious, and it was delightful to talk with Angela and her Mother about food, life in Rome, work, and the state of the world in general. This experience would have been impossible for us without Le Cesarine."

"We had a wonderfull lunch time with Tania (30 minutes outside from Bologna). She was an excellent host and very charming. We enjoyed her traditional courses (antipasti, strozzapretti con salsiccia, brasato al limone) very much and could highly recommend her. The atmosphere was very relaxed and it was easy to drive to her. We would come again."
