Le Cesarine

Discovering Milan's winter flavours

Milano / Lombardia

La Cesarina

Milan is a versatile and dynamic city, one of the world’s fashion capitals, and has a local cuisine full of intense and refined flavours. It’s a city that is certainly worth exploring! Laura welcomes us into her beautiful home which looks over the park of Ticello, in a calm corner of the city.

Our Milanese Cesarina loves spending time in the kitchen, and serves up a sophisticated take on milanese cuisine, surprising her guests with the wonderful flavours of her city.

Guests at her house should be ready to enjoy some unexpected flavours!

The secret of the Cesarina
"My kitchen table is always ready to welcome both expected and unexpected guests!"

  • Pumpkin flan with taleggio cream and amaretti
  • Pumpkin risotto (or milanese tripe upon request)
  • "Rustitt negàa" (or ossobuco with polenta upon request)
  • Seasonal vegetables
  • "Pan de mein" with chantilly cream

Refined selection of local wines

Laura welcomes her guests with a special starter, a pie made with pumpkin, taleggio cheese and amaretti biscuits, a highly original (and delicious) combination.

Next, she serves a delicate and sophisticated first course, pumpkin risotto. She can also prepare milanese tripe instead, for more adventurous guests!

For the second course, you can choose between two dishes. The first option is an ode to milanese tradition, the ‘rustin negàa’, little ‘twists’ of veal that are breaded and braised in butter and pancetta, before being cooked in wine or broth. The second option is a local speciality ‘ossobuco’ (veal shanks) with polenta. There is also a side dish of seasonal vegetables. You can choose whichever second course you prefer - both are delicious!

To finish, Laura serves a typical lombardian dessert, ‘pan de mein’, a cornflour dessert with chantilly cream.

Our customers says

"This was one our best experiences in Bologna. Our hosts, Gianni and Lorenza, were a well travelled and interesting couple about similar ages to ourselves. They also spoke perfect English, having lived in Canada for many years. Gianni taught us how to make tortellini from scratch which we ate with our meal. Gianni is a fine and the rest of the meal was excellent. Their place is an apartment in a medieval Palazzo which was well worth seeing on its own. We really enjoyed it."

"Our dinner with Angela was the best experience of our visit to Rome. The food was delicious, and it was delightful to talk with Angela and her Mother about food, life in Rome, work, and the state of the world in general. This experience would have been impossible for us without Le Cesarine."

"We had a wonderfull lunch time with Tania (30 minutes outside from Bologna). She was an excellent host and very charming. We enjoyed her traditional courses (antipasti, strozzapretti con salsiccia, brasato al limone) very much and could highly recommend her. The atmosphere was very relaxed and it was easy to drive to her. We would come again."
