Le Cesarine

Enjoy sea flavours at a Roman dinner table

Monterotondo / Lazio

La Cesarina

Miriam's house is situated near the source of the River Tiber, immersed in the bucolic countryside that surrounds the Eternal City. Her village is called Monterotondo, a place that not only preserves all the Roman culinary traditions, but also offers a moment of tranquility that provides a welcome break from the hustle and bustle of Rome’s city centre. Miriam’s appetising menus represent the great classics of the Lazio Region.

The secret of the Cesarina

  • Toasted bread 'crostini' with mozzarella and anchovies
  • Skate (a fish typically prepared in Rome) and broccoli soup
  • Baked salted cod with wild herbs
  • Sautéed chicory
  • Polenta pizza with ricotta and melted chocolate

Refined selection of local wines

Sometimes, cheese and fish can be a winning combination! For example, when you are in the fabolous region of Lazio and you have the chance to taste one of the traditional starters, crostini with mozzarella and anchovies.

After that, our Cesarina Miriam serves an intriguing and delicious main course, a broccoli and ray soup, then baked cod garnished with fines herbes as second main, with a side dish of chicory.

Finally, the sweet side of this Taste Experience: a fantastic sweet polenta pizza with ricotta and chocolate.

Our customers says

"This was one our best experiences in Bologna. Our hosts, Gianni and Lorenza, were a well travelled and interesting couple about similar ages to ourselves. They also spoke perfect English, having lived in Canada for many years. Gianni taught us how to make tortellini from scratch which we ate with our meal. Gianni is a fine and the rest of the meal was excellent. Their place is an apartment in a medieval Palazzo which was well worth seeing on its own. We really enjoyed it."

"Our dinner with Angela was the best experience of our visit to Rome. The food was delicious, and it was delightful to talk with Angela and her Mother about food, life in Rome, work, and the state of the world in general. This experience would have been impossible for us without Le Cesarine."

D. White

"We had a wonderfull lunch time with Tania (30 minutes outside from Bologna). She was an excellent host and very charming. We enjoyed her traditional courses (antipasti, strozzapretti con salsiccia, brasato al limone) very much and could highly recommend her. The atmosphere was very relaxed and it was easy to drive to her. We would come again."
