Le Cesarine

Her majesty, pasta all'Amatriciana

Roma / Lazio

La Cesarina

Cesarina Cecilia works as an international journalist, but at home her passion is cooking. She’s found away of uniting her work and her hobby by inviting people from all over the world to have dinners at her house. This gives her the chance to meet people from many different company and share their stories at the table, surrounded by good food and wine.

Cecilia welcomes her guests into her beautiful home, which is right in front of Rome's Basilica di San Paolo, a stone’s throw away from the banks of the Tiber. She occupies the top two floors of a gorgeous building built in 1915. It has a beautiful terrace which looks out over the capital, so you can enjoy a taste of Rome in style - and with excellent company, of course!

The secret of the Cesarina

"I love bringing people together around the dinner table to enjoy good food and wine together. Hearing the stories and experiences of people who live far away is such a joy."

  • Olive and escarole pizza
  • Spaghetti alla Amatriciana
  • Chicken and peppers
  • Vignarola
  • Home made ricotta and wild cherry tart

Refined selection of local wines

Cecilia's taste experience begins with an appetising starter of pizza topped with olives and escaroles.

Next, we have a first course that represents one of the region’s most famous dishes, pasta all’amatriciana, a simple and delicious recipe made with pork cheek that is absolutely irresistable. Next, she serves a second course that unites the delicate and tender chicken with colourful bell peppers for a perfectly balanced dish. This is accompanied by vignarola, a classic Roman side dish that combines mixed vegetables with crispy pork cheek, pecorino cheese and mint.

To finish on a sweet note, we have a homemade ricotta and wild cherry tart.

Cesarina's Reviews

Our customers says

"This was one our best experiences in Bologna. Our hosts, Gianni and Lorenza, were a well travelled and interesting couple about similar ages to ourselves. They also spoke perfect English, having lived in Canada for many years. Gianni taught us how to make tortellini from scratch which we ate with our meal. Gianni is a fine and the rest of the meal was excellent. Their place is an apartment in a medieval Palazzo which was well worth seeing on its own. We really enjoyed it."

"Our dinner with Angela was the best experience of our visit to Rome. The food was delicious, and it was delightful to talk with Angela and her Mother about food, life in Rome, work, and the state of the world in general. This experience would have been impossible for us without Le Cesarine."

"We had a wonderfull lunch time with Tania (30 minutes outside from Bologna). She was an excellent host and very charming. We enjoyed her traditional courses (antipasti, strozzapretti con salsiccia, brasato al limone) very much and could highly recommend her. The atmosphere was very relaxed and it was easy to drive to her. We would come again."
