Le Cesarine

In and around Bologna

Bologna / Emilia-Romagna

La Cesarina

Want to enjoy the finest flavours of one of the world’s most iconic cuisines, right at the city gates? You can! Paola lives at Porta San Felice, near Bologna’s original city walls.

In this gorgeous and tranquil location, our Cesarina takes us on a journey through the flavours of Bologna’s local traditions, from mortadella to ragù alla bolognese.

The secret of the Cesarina

“I love cooking, because it brings together family traditions and the joy of sharing food with other people”.

Piadine (flatbreads) with squacquerone cheese and arugula
Garganelli with seasonal vegetables sauce
Citrus-infused roast turkey
Tomato gratin
Chocolate Salami

Refined selection of local wines

The piadina is maybe… Or should I say, definitely, Romagna’s signature dish. Since Bologna is so close-by, it’s also a favourite here! Paola decides to serve this flatbread as an antipasto, with rocket leaves and scquacquerone, a creamy local cheese.

Next, Paola serves garganelli, one of Bologna’s most famous products, served simply with seasonal vegetables sauce for a delicious dish! For the second course, she serves a turkey roast with citrus fruits and a side of potato gratin.

Finally, for dessert, Paola serves a chocolate salami , a delightfully fragrant cake that is the perfect way to round off the Taste Experience.

Cesarina's Reviews

A great evening. We tried some interesting Bolognese dishes such as Galatina; which I had never heard of before - but was really good. I like the fact the Cesarina chooses what to serve you, as you get to try new things you might not have thought to choose in a restaurant. Thanks Paola, this made our trip!

Our customers says

"This was one our best experiences in Bologna. Our hosts, Gianni and Lorenza, were a well travelled and interesting couple about similar ages to ourselves. They also spoke perfect English, having lived in Canada for many years. Gianni taught us how to make tortellini from scratch which we ate with our meal. Gianni is a fine and the rest of the meal was excellent. Their place is an apartment in a medieval Palazzo which was well worth seeing on its own. We really enjoyed it."

"Our dinner with Angela was the best experience of our visit to Rome. The food was delicious, and it was delightful to talk with Angela and her Mother about food, life in Rome, work, and the state of the world in general. This experience would have been impossible for us without Le Cesarine."

"We had a wonderfull lunch time with Tania (30 minutes outside from Bologna). She was an excellent host and very charming. We enjoyed her traditional courses (antipasti, strozzapretti con salsiccia, brasato al limone) very much and could highly recommend her. The atmosphere was very relaxed and it was easy to drive to her. We would come again."
