La Cesarina

Our Cesarina welcomes us to her grandparents' farmstead, in the middle of the countryside near Tortona. “In the winter - she explains - there is a little dining room with a chimney and a nice table”, weather permitting, we can enjoy the typical dishes of this area “under a veranda, where you can admire a view our countryside”. Hosting guests with a passion for home-made food is a great opportunity for her: “this way I can introduce more people to the recipes my beloved mother left me as a legacy”.

The secret of the Cesarina
My mother left me a legacy of dozens of typical recipes, and I still serve them to my guests today.

The scrumptious taste of little corn pancakes welcomes us to the Piedmontese countryside, served with artisan sausages and strips of pepper, drizzled with parsley sauce à la piemontese.

The first course is a delicious soup made from Merella chickpeas, which are grown in the nearby Novi Ligure. To follow, a simple and delicious seasonal vegetable and onion quiche.

Once we have reached dessert, Andreina shows off a prized local product: Volpedo peaches, which she makes into a tart, together with cocoa, amaretti and dark chocolate shavings - an absolutely delicious finish.
