“When I would come home, my grandfather Cesare would say, ‘guess what I’ve brought for you today!’ For me, those words rang like a gift: dinner-time was approaching. Before cooking, my grandfather would put on a white apron and select the ingredients: he would turn on the burners and suddenly the kitchen would be filled with the scent of cooking, and everyone would start getting hungry." 

Our guide Germano, who today lives in the enchanting capital, Rome, in a splendid apartment in the shadow of the famous St. Peter’s Basilica, tells us about himself in this way.

He pleasantly recalls his first steps in the kitchen when he would help his mother in the kitchen at a young age. “Christmas, Easter, birthdays... Every event was celebrated around our dining table and, like every Italian family, we would talk about food while we ate”.

Germano grew up in Passoscuro, a small fishing town near Rome, and his Taste Experience showcases the finest fish dishes, inspired by his precious childhood memories. 

Let’s start with the seafood antipasto, the bruschetta toasts with telline clams, and the first course: risotto with squid, prepared in the Roman tradition, with a final addition of squid ink. Next, batter-fried salted codfish filets, accompanied by marinated zucchini seasoned with minced garlic, parsley and mint. Germano concludes his culinary Experience with Roman-style ricotta gelato: an ancient recipe based on sugar, eggs, liquor and ricotta.

We begin with a seafood antipasto of bruschetta toast with telline clams. Next, for the first course, we have squid risotto, prepared in the traditional Roman style with the addition of squid ink. For the second course, Germano served battered salt cod fillets, with a side dish of marinated zucchini infused with notes of garlic, parsley and mint. 

We round off the Taste Experience with Roman-style ricotta gelato, made with sugar, eggs, liquor and ricotta. Delicious!
