Le Cesarine

Sea flavours in Palermo

Palermo / Sicilia

La Cesarina

Alessandro was born and raised in Palermo, but spent several years living in London, where he developed a passion for cooking. Living overseas made Alessandro’s love of his hometown all the more powerful, and his Sicilian roots have always been a strong part of his identity. He loves meeting new people form all over the world so he can share the rich traditions of Sicily with them.

Alessandro welcomes us into the heart of Palermo, a beautiful city that leaves a mark on anyone lucky enough to visit. His flat is located in an oasis of calm, providing a welcome break from the hustle and bustle of the city centre, but within easy reach of all the main attractions. There is plenty of outdoor space here, making it perfect for children and nature-lovers. Alessandro’s dinner table is a warm and welcoming place, offering you a first-hand experience of the famous Sicilian hospitality.

Tuna and lemon tartare
Busiate pasta with cherry tomatoes, mint and swordfish roe
Fillet of grilled amberjack
Seasonal vegetables
Pan di Spagna with lemon granita and chantilly cream

Refined selection of local wines

This Taste Experience is a homage to the Palermitan culinary tradition.

To begin, we have a refined and delicate tuna tartare, served with a generous squeeze of Sicilian lemon, one of the island’s most iconic exports.

For the first course, Alessandro opts for a typical Sicilian speciality, ‘busiate’ pasta, served with cherry tomatoes, mint and a local delicacy, swordfish roe. The flavour combination is light and fresh, perfect for a summer’s day.

Next, for the second course, we have a classic fish dish, grilled amberjack served with fresh seasonal vegetables.

To round off, Alessandro serves an exceptional ‘pan di spagna’ sponge cake, served with a refreshing lemon granita topped with chantilly cream. The perfect finish!

Our customers says

"This was one our best experiences in Bologna. Our hosts, Gianni and Lorenza, were a well travelled and interesting couple about similar ages to ourselves. They also spoke perfect English, having lived in Canada for many years. Gianni taught us how to make tortellini from scratch which we ate with our meal. Gianni is a fine and the rest of the meal was excellent. Their place is an apartment in a medieval Palazzo which was well worth seeing on its own. We really enjoyed it."

"Our dinner with Angela was the best experience of our visit to Rome. The food was delicious, and it was delightful to talk with Angela and her Mother about food, life in Rome, work, and the state of the world in general. This experience would have been impossible for us without Le Cesarine."

"We had a wonderfull lunch time with Tania (30 minutes outside from Bologna). She was an excellent host and very charming. We enjoyed her traditional courses (antipasti, strozzapretti con salsiccia, brasato al limone) very much and could highly recommend her. The atmosphere was very relaxed and it was easy to drive to her. We would come again."
