Le Cesarine

The Flavours of Turin

Torino / Piemonte

La Cesarina

Gisella inherited her passion for cooking from her own family: her grandfather was a chef in Turin and her grandmother loved cooking delicious and tasting dishes for all family occasions. Our Cesarina has always loved sharing her dinner table with guests, and during her stay in Africa, this pleasure became a real meeting of cuisines from all over the world. This is not only a passion for Gisella, but also something she is studying for: in fact, our Cesarina adores impressing her guests with new and sophisticated dishes, which you can enjoy in her wonderful house in San Salvario, a lovely Turinese neighborhood.

Refined selection of local wines

Are you ready for a lively and flavoursome introduction to Turin? You’re in good hands with Cesarina Gisella, who offers a menu that will take you on a tour of the city’s exciting traditional flavours.

To start, our Cesarina serves a colourful and light starter of stuffed eggs - she expertly adds a touch of pink to the whites using a beetroot marinade.

Next, we have a traditional Piedmontese first course, ravioli made with freshly homemade egg pasta, filled with spinach, ricotta and parmesan. The second course is another traditional favourite, “tonno di coniglio”, a typical countryside recipe of rabbit gently infused with spices and garlic. This is accompanied by a fresh mixed salad topped with leek and walnuts.

To conclude this rich menu, our Cesarina serves panna cotta, drizzled with an indulgent gianduja glaze… An unmissable treat!

Our customers says

"This was one our best experiences in Bologna. Our hosts, Gianni and Lorenza, were a well travelled and interesting couple about similar ages to ourselves. They also spoke perfect English, having lived in Canada for many years. Gianni taught us how to make tortellini from scratch which we ate with our meal. Gianni is a fine and the rest of the meal was excellent. Their place is an apartment in a medieval Palazzo which was well worth seeing on its own. We really enjoyed it."

J. Bliss

"Our dinner with Angela was the best experience of our visit to Rome. The food was delicious, and it was delightful to talk with Angela and her Mother about food, life in Rome, work, and the state of the world in general. This experience would have been impossible for us without Le Cesarine."

D. White

"We had a wonderfull lunch time with Tania (30 minutes outside from Bologna). She was an excellent host and very charming. We enjoyed her traditional courses (antipasti, strozzapretti con salsiccia, brasato al limone) very much and could highly recommend her. The atmosphere was very relaxed and it was easy to drive to her. We would come again."
