Luisa begins this journey through Lombard tradition with a truly delicious starter. A spinach (or alternatively, fresh chard) pie is brought to the table, with a delicious Parmesan cheese cream. This is a marriage of scrumptious and intense flavours.

To follow, a typically Milanese first course: risotto. Our Cesarina’s version is a risotto all’Ortolana, a “greengrocers’ risotto”, which is made with a combination of vegetables. The result is simple, fresh and delicious, a tribute to the flavours of the Lombard countryside. For the second course, Luisa opts for a succulent 'frittura piccata': floured veal scallops are fried in oil and a generous splash with wine. This is a real delight of the senses which our Cesarina decides to serve with a basil and tomato salad and roast potatoes.

To finish, dessert. Luisa serves an almond parfait, something she took a liking to during a holiday in Sicily. This delicious semi-frozen dessert is made of eggs and whipped cream, enriched with the flavour of almonds and a delicious berry sauce.

Luisa is originally from Milan, but has lived in the area surrounding Padova for years. Her love for her hometown is still strong, despite the fact she moved away. This Cesarina has a true passion for local traditions, which she certainly expresses in the kitchen.

Their menu is full of typical Milanese flavours. All the recipes use local produce, and have roots in historical Milanese peasant foods. The Lombardia region produces a great deal of game, poultry, beef and veal, as well as being famous for the its many cheeses, including favourites such as gorgonzola and mascarpone. This abundance of ingredients offers us a varied and intense cuisine, opening the doors to a world of delicious dishes.
