La Cesarina

Luisa is originally from Milan, but has lived in the area surrounding Padova for years. Her love for her hometown is still strong, despite the fact she moved away. This Cesarina has a true passion for local traditions, which she certainly expresses in the kitchen.

Their menu is full of typical Milanese flavours. All the recipes use local produce, and have roots in historical Milanese peasant foods. The Lombardia region produces a great deal of game, poultry, beef and veal, as well as being famous for the its many cheeses, including favourites such as gorgonzola and mascarpone. This abundance of ingredients offers us a varied and intense cuisine, opening the doors to a world of delicious dishes.

Description

Our Taste Experience following the Lombard tradition begins with a dish typically from Milan. Luisa serves a chicken 'galantina in gelatina', thinly sliced chicken with a rich pork, veal and pistacchio stuffing; an original starter with a delicious combination of flavours. 

For the first course, Luisa opts for a creamy seasonal vegetable risotto. The combination of butter, warm rice and fresh vegetables is a real delight. For the second course, Luisa serves a traditional 'rusticiada', a veal and sausage stew. This is a dish from the farming tradition, and the succulent meat is complimented by onions for a simple and satisfying dish. 

To finish, one of the most classic local desserts. Our Cesarina picks a warm apple pie for its unmistakable home-made aroma. Playing on contrasts, she decides to serve it with fresh cream custard flavoured ice cream.

I'm writing this review not only for reccommending Luisa & Caterina, but, even more important thing, to say thank you one more time to these great women.

I had a really good time in Milan: I enjoyed the city and the whole time i spent there, but the best memory i decided to bring back home it's the dinner with Luisa and Caterina.

I loved it! They are such friendly and warm persons and their cooking is absolutely great. Even if they don't speak english, we had absolutely no problem understanding each other and i think all of this made the whole time even funnier and relaxing.

Great Women, awesome cooking that means absolutely reccommended.

If you step in Milan make yourselves a favor and don't miss a tasteful experience like the one i had.
