Le Cesarine

Typical recipes from the Gulf of Naples

Napoli / Campania

La Cesarina

Naples is a veritable outdoor museum. History and art combine in this narrow city between the sea and Mount Vesuvius, ensuring unique and fascinating results. Moreover, there must be a good reason if, in 1995, UNESCO chose the entire city as a "World Heritage Site".

We can admire all this beauty while comfortably sitting on Gabriella’s terrace. From here, we can see the island of Capri at a distance, and the view looks directly onto the Gulf, creating a decidedly romantic atmosphere. The show continues inside the house, tastefully decorated by our Cesarina and her husband. In short, the perfect setting to enjoy a Culinary Experience immersed in Neapolitan tradition.

The secret of the Cesarina

The kitchen? For me it is an art form, a way to express my creativity

  • Anchovy pie and little fish-balls
  • Spaghetti with clams and lupin beans
  • Stuffed squid with fresh salad
  • Caprino cheese mousse with raspberry cream

Refined selection of local wines

Our Cesarina’s menu starts off with a tasting of genuine Neapolitan cuisine, in the heart of the Mediterranean. Gabriella delights us with an anchovy pie, an entrée that marries the fish with the homely flavor of parsley, thyme and marjoram grown on her very own terrace. The starter ends with soft fish balls, served with Tabasco sauce for a kick of spice.

Next comes an appetizing main course: spaghetti with 'vongole' clams and lupin beans, an absolutely recipe that cannot be missed on a trip to Naples. As a second course Gabriella serves squid stuffed with bread, parsley, capers, olives and calamari, with a fresh tomato sauce. This is accompanied by a delicate salad, an accompaniment for fish.

To round off the evening, an exquisite dessert. Our Cesarina makes use in her father’s memories, who had Sicilian origins, and opts for a sweet Caprino cheese mousse accompanied by a raspberry cream, a wonderful end to a Taste Experience that marries together the tastes of the land and sea.

Our customers says

"This was one our best experiences in Bologna. Our hosts, Gianni and Lorenza, were a well travelled and interesting couple about similar ages to ourselves. They also spoke perfect English, having lived in Canada for many years. Gianni taught us how to make tortellini from scratch which we ate with our meal. Gianni is a fine and the rest of the meal was excellent. Their place is an apartment in a medieval Palazzo which was well worth seeing on its own. We really enjoyed it."

"Our dinner with Angela was the best experience of our visit to Rome. The food was delicious, and it was delightful to talk with Angela and her Mother about food, life in Rome, work, and the state of the world in general. This experience would have been impossible for us without Le Cesarine."

"We had a wonderfull lunch time with Tania (30 minutes outside from Bologna). She was an excellent host and very charming. We enjoyed her traditional courses (antipasti, strozzapretti con salsiccia, brasato al limone) very much and could highly recommend her. The atmosphere was very relaxed and it was easy to drive to her. We would come again."
