Le Cesarine

When Rome and Campania meet

Roma / Lazio

La Cesarina

“My family and relatives all work in restaurants - we all do!” If you want to talk about cooking, Michela is certainly born into it, and she’s been a passionate chef for her entire life.

She’s originally from Campania, but has been living in Rome for many years. She lives in a spacious and welcoming apartment in the quiet, leafy suburbs of the city, not too far from the historic centre and the Vatican museum. Her menu is full of Rome’s culinary delights, as well as some typical dishes from her own region in the South of Italy.

The secret of the Cesarina
"My menu reflects my origins, both Rome and Campania."

  • Cherry tomatoes stuffed with tuna and capers
  • Roman Tonnarelli pasta with 'cacio e pepe' cheese and pepper sauce
  • Cuttlefish with peas
  • Romanesco broccoli in vinegar
  • Ricotta and visciole cherry 'crostata' tart

Refined selection of local wines

Michela lives in Rome, but her family is originally from Campania in the South of Italy. In Michela’s menu, the flavours of the two come together in a perfect combination.

Starting with the antipasto of cherry tomatoes stuffed with tuna and capers, a pairing of strong flavours with truly appetising results.

Next, we have a typical Roman pasta, tonnareli, in a ‘cacio e pepe’ sauce, an iconic dish from the capital. Then, for the second course, we have cuttlefish with peas, accompanied by romanesco broccoli all’agro (dressed in lemon and olive oil).

Finally, for a perfectly sweet finish, we have an inviting ricotta and cherry tart.

Cesarina's Reviews

The dinner was delicious, I went absolutely crazy for every dish Michela prepared for us and was a very pleasing evening. Thanks to Michela and to the whole Cesarine organization. Both strongly reccommended!

Our customers says

"This was one our best experiences in Bologna. Our hosts, Gianni and Lorenza, were a well travelled and interesting couple about similar ages to ourselves. They also spoke perfect English, having lived in Canada for many years. Gianni taught us how to make tortellini from scratch which we ate with our meal. Gianni is a fine and the rest of the meal was excellent. Their place is an apartment in a medieval Palazzo which was well worth seeing on its own. We really enjoyed it."

"Our dinner with Angela was the best experience of our visit to Rome. The food was delicious, and it was delightful to talk with Angela and her Mother about food, life in Rome, work, and the state of the world in general. This experience would have been impossible for us without Le Cesarine."

"We had a wonderfull lunch time with Tania (30 minutes outside from Bologna). She was an excellent host and very charming. We enjoyed her traditional courses (antipasti, strozzapretti con salsiccia, brasato al limone) very much and could highly recommend her. The atmosphere was very relaxed and it was easy to drive to her. We would come again."
