Le Cesarine

Milanese family recipes

Milano / Lombardia

La Cesarina

«I love buying my groceries at the farmers markets. They are becoming increasingly frequent in my neighborhood and I can find the best vegetables there». Sissi is a real perfectionist: she pays great attention to the details of her dinner table and cares deeply about food quality, its origins and its preparations.

Our Cesarine welcomes you in her lovely and luminous house, immersed in the tranquility of the milanese suburbs.  «I feel as if I’m surrounded by nature, even though we're in the city».

The secret of the Cesarina
"I fell in love with cooking because my family would often take me out of town on Sundays to the Oltrepò Pavese. This is where I discovered the importance of Lombardian cuisine."

  • Melon with Milanese ham
  • Pan-fried risotto with raspadura (shards of Lombardian style parmigiano reggiano cheese)
  • 'Vitello tonnato' alla milanese, veal in a tuna sauce
  • New potatoes with parsley
  • Apple tart with ice cream

Refined selection of local wines

Sissi chooses to begin her lombardian Taste Experience with a simple and delicious starter. She serves melon with Milanese ham, a fresh dish that is a popular appetiser.
Next, according to local tradition, Sissi serves a risotto with ‘raspadura’, hard ‘grana’ cheese cut into very fine shards. For the second course, she prepares exquisite veal in tuna sauce, served with boiled potatoes scattered with fresh parsley.
Finally, she rounds off the Taste Experience with a delicious apple cake, served with a scoop of ‘crema’ gelato for a touch of freshness.

Cesarina's Reviews

On Friday, 20th October 2017, we experienced an unforgettable evening together with friends at the home of 'Sissi' in Milano, member of Le Cesarine. Sissi warmly welcomed us with an 'apéro' and offered us thereafter an excellent menu, 'il menu della Madonnina': Pâté di fegato di vitello con crostini, Risotto giallo alla Milanese, Mondeghili con salsa verde, Finocchi in padella, Torta tante mele con gelato alla crema. Selezione di vini locali. We enjoyed every minute and can only recommend Sissi to anybody who would like to experience something different but unique! Giacomo & Sabine

Our customers says

"This was one our best experiences in Bologna. Our hosts, Gianni and Lorenza, were a well travelled and interesting couple about similar ages to ourselves. They also spoke perfect English, having lived in Canada for many years. Gianni taught us how to make tortellini from scratch which we ate with our meal. Gianni is a fine and the rest of the meal was excellent. Their place is an apartment in a medieval Palazzo which was well worth seeing on its own. We really enjoyed it."

"Our dinner with Angela was the best experience of our visit to Rome. The food was delicious, and it was delightful to talk with Angela and her Mother about food, life in Rome, work, and the state of the world in general. This experience would have been impossible for us without Le Cesarine."

"We had a wonderfull lunch time with Tania (30 minutes outside from Bologna). She was an excellent host and very charming. We enjoyed her traditional courses (antipasti, strozzapretti con salsiccia, brasato al limone) very much and could highly recommend her. The atmosphere was very relaxed and it was easy to drive to her. We would come again."
